We welcome guest poets, essayists, fiction writers, playwrights, and filmmakers into our creative writing classrooms.
The Princemere Writers Series brings established and emerging writers to the campus and community.
We also welcome writers into our creative writing workshops.
And in 2021 we launched the inaugural Five Ponds Creative Writing Festival at Gordon College.
Since then, we have held three 5P festivals, each featuring a full day of workshops, talks, readings, and panels, beginning at 8:00 a.m. and finishing at 6:30 p.m. EST. Our keynote speakers were Rhina Espaillat, Jeanne Murray Walker, and Brad Davis.
American Poet Laureate Robert Pinsky gave us an hour-long reading of his work at our second festival.
Many of our workshop sessions are led by our alumni writers, and focus on such topics as generating creative works, routes to publication, the professional world of writing, literary citizenship, and writing as spiritual practice. Each festival will also have a focusing on translation, on how ideas move into words, and then move across languages. We conclude with a festival-goers reading.
Writers of all experience levels will find something of interest during the day.
