We offer a concentration in Creative Writing for English majors, or an English minor-with-a-creative-writing-focus for students majoring in subjects other than English.
The Creative Writing concentration requires the completion of five courses from among these twelve courses: Introduction to Creative Writing; workshops in Fiction; Nonfiction; Poetry; Playwriting; Writing for Pod/Broadcast; Screenwriting; Advanced Creative Writing; and Literary Publishing. Most years, one or more of our writers have also designed and completed a senior Honors Thesis (independent study) in creative writing.
Abroad, students may take our Writing the City (in London & Edinburgh), and The Ekphrastic Studio (Orvieto, Italy) courses.
The minor in English/creative writing requires a tandem course on poetry & narrative, followed by four creative writing seminars.
